Photoshop Power Tab Vs Paupers Paint Pad

Darlo compares Photoshop, Paint, a laptop finger pad, and a Wacom graphics tablet - Conclusion.

Warning! These pages can be full of images, please be aware that if you have a slow internet connection they could take a while to load up.

Anna drawn in Photoshop using a graphics tablet. Number One Method!Anna drawn in Paint using a graphics tablet. Number Two Method! In terms of speed, ease of use and aesthetic outcome the clear winner has to be combining Photoshop with the Wacom graphics tablet. It’s clear here that when you spend money, you can get a lot out of it. Second place would go to the Paint-Tablet combo. This is largely due to time and the fact that the way my laptop’s personality kicks in when using the third place, Photoshop-Finger Pad, method has in the past lost me hours of time and files of work. Fourth place goes to the not so glamorous team Paint-Finger Pad.

Anna made with Photoshop and the Finger Pad. Number Three Method!Anna drawn in Paint using the laptop finger pad. Number Four Method! So there we have it. You do have to pay for results. That being said, there are cheaper alternatives. Instead of Photoshop, why not check out the GNU Image Manipulation Program1 (GIMP … yes it’s funny). As for graphics tablets, there are some very cheap ones out there. Trust2 are known for making incredibly cheap tablets that you could even pick up in your local Tesco store. However, when compared with Wacom they have been far from successful as a rival3, 4, with the exception of price of course.
